Full Tour Description
Duration: 2.5 hours
Enjoy a historical overview of the Buda Castle district, while strolling through its cobblestone streets and squares. Your guide will be on hand to tell you about the Castle district’s history, how it survived the ages, and how it helped its inhabitants defend and live through centuries of invasions and occupations.
Along the way, you’ll see grand palaces and spectacular buildings and get a real feel for the area’s development from its Medieval roots to the present day. To help you understand what you’re seeing, you guide will tell you a little about how the Castle Hill was originally built and designed, how the whole area used to look, and how it has been used over the centuries.
During this tour, you’ll see the major areas of the Royal Palace, Presidential Palace, Disz Square, Holy Trinity Square, Hess Andras Square and the Fisherman’s Bastion. We’ll also show you around inside Matthias Church and tell you its stories and legends. Finally, we’ll take a break for coffee and cake at a cozy café in the Castle District.
